     Fruit Cake

Ingredients
CREAM TOGETHER
2 c. brown sugar, packed tightly
3/4 cups butter or margarine
4 eggs, beaten
1 cup sour cream
1 T. cinnamon
3/4 T. ground cloves
1 T. ground nutmeg
3/4 t. salt
 
4-1/2 cups flour
2-1/2 tspn soda
1 lb. raisins
1/2 lb. dates (chopped)
1 c. pecans (chopped)
1/2 lb. citron candies (fruit and peels)

Instructions
Mix together the first eight ingredients. Add next two ingredients and mix well. Mixture will be thick. May have to use wooden spoon to get it mixed together well.
Pour into two greased/floured loaf pan or a tube pan. Decorate top of cake with pecan halves and red and green marchino cherries.
Bake in 300 degrees oven for approximately two hours. After baking top with topping.
TOPPING: 4 T. CORN SYRUP; 8 T. brown sugar; 8 T. water. Boil two minutes, stirring continually.
Serving Suggestions
If dates are rolled in flour they will be easier to cut, or buy the ones already cut in small bits.
