     Hearty Bean and Ham Soup

1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter
1 (15 ounce) can sliced carrots, drained
1 cup chopped celery
2 - 3 cups cooked, diced ham
2 (15 ounce) cans navy beans with liquid
2 (15 ounce) cans jalapeno pinto beans with liquid
2 (14 ounce) cans chicken broth
2 teaspoons chili powder

In soup pot with butter, cook carrots and celery about 8 minutes until tender - crisp. Add diced ham, beans, broth, chili powder, and a little salt and pepper. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly, for 3 minutes. Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
