Mix syrup ingredients in a pot and bring to a boil.
Reduce and simmer for 10 minutes.
Remove from the heat and let cool completely. (Will be poured
over hot pastry.)
Chop nuts and mix with sugar and cinnamon - Set aside to fill
between the bottom and top layers

With large sheets of filo dough (11x14 sheets)
Cut sheets in half.
Layer one sheet, lightly brush with melted butter.
Continue until 1/2 of the filo dough is used.
Place top layers, again buttering each sheet of filo dough.

Cut in diamond shapes (Cut 1 inch lengthwise cuts in pan, then cut
1 inch diagonal slices.)
|

|
Bake in 350 degree preheated oven for one hour.
Remove from oven and slowly ladle cooled syrup over the hot
pastry.
Allow to cool completely overnight.
