     Gingerbread Cake

Ingredients
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt optional
1 1/2 tsp ground cinnnamon
1 tsp ground ginger
1/8 tsp ground cloves
1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temp
1/2 cup lightbrown sugar
2 large eggs
 
1/2 cup unsulphured molasses (spray cup with vegetable spray to keep from sticking)
1 cup milk

Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter and flour a 9 inch round orsquare cake pan.
In a seperate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, ground cinnamon, ginger and cloves.
In bowl of electric mixer, with the paddle attachment, beat the buttr and sugar until light and fluffy ( about 3 minutes.) Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add the molasses and beat to comine. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed. Add the dry ingredients and milk, alternately, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Beat just unitl incorporated.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top with an offset spatula. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick is inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Remove from oven and let cool for 10 min before removing from pan. Let cool completely before frosting.
