     French Toast Casserole

Ingredients
1 T unsalted butter at room temperature
1 loaf french bread cut into 1 inch slices
8 large eggs
2 cups eggnog
1 cup milk
2 T sugar
1 t vanilla
1/2 t cinnamon and 1/4 t nutmeg
Pinch salt
 
8 T butter, room temperature
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup chopped pecans
2 T corn syrup
1 t cinnamon and 1 t nutmeg
1/2 - 3/4 cup whole red and green maraschino cherries
Maple syrup

Instructions
Grease 9 x 13 baking dish with the butter.Arrange bread slices in dish in two overlapping rows.
Whisk together eggs, eggnog, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt in large bowl. Pour egg mixture evenly over bread, making sure bread is well covered. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
Oven to 250 degrees. Whisk together butter, brown sugar, pecans, corn syrup, cinnamon and nutmeg. Sprinkle evenly over bread.
Bake 30-40 minutes until lightly browned. Remove from oven and decorate with cherries in cluster of three to look like hollyberries. Serve with maple syrup.
