     PECAN TOFFEE SHORTBREAD

2 C. COARSLEY CHOPPED PECANS
1 C. BUTTER SOFTENED
2/3 C. LIGHT BROWN SUGAR PACKED
1/3 C. CORNSTARCH
2 C. FLOUR
1/4 t. SALT
2 t. VANILLA
1 BAG CHOC CHIPS
 

Instructions
BAKKE PECANS IN SINGLE LAER IN SHALLOW PAN 8-10 MIN TILL ROASTED AND FRAGRANT, STIR A COUPLE OF TIMES. COLL COMPLETELY 15 MIN. 350 OVEN
BEAT BUTTER AT MED SPEED TILL CREAMY. STIR TOGETHER BROWN SUGAR AND CORNSTARCH,GRADUALLY ADD TO BUTTER AT LOW SPEED TILL BLENDED. STIR TOGETHER FLOUR AND SALT ADD GRADUALLY TO CREAMED MIXTURE BEATING JUST TILL BLENDED.ADD VANILLA AND 1 C. NUTS. BEAT JUST TILL BLENDED.
TURN DOUGH ONTO A LIGHTLY GREASED SHEET PAT OR ROLL INTO 11X14 INCH RECTANGLE LEAVING AT LEAST A 1 INCH BORDER ON ALL SIDES.
BAKE 350 FOR 20 MIN. OR TILL GOLDEN BROWN. REMOVE FROM BAKING SHEET TO WIRE RACK; SPRINKLE WITH CHOC CHIPS. LET STAND 5 MIN THEN SPREAD MELTED CHOC OVER SHORTBREAD. SPRINKLE WITH 1 C. PECANS AND LET SET 1 HOUR CUT INTO 2-3 INCH PIECES
