Ingredients
1˝cups shortening
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
˝cup molasses
4 cups sifted flour
2 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp cloves
2tsp ginger
2sp baking soda
 

Instructions
Cream shortening and sugar together Beat in eggs Add molasses and sifted dry ingredients Roll into 1” balls Roll in sugar Place on baking sheet 2”apart Bake in moderate oven 375° for 9 minutes
This is probably Christine's most well known recipe. Thousands of gingersnaps have been made over the years-either by Christine or under her watchful eye. They smell marvellous when baking and look wonderful when piled up, cooling. Always wonderful, rarely the same, two batches in a row-if made at the Christmas baking day- but always reliably a big hit with all who encounter them. These keep very well -especially if hidden in the freezer-but also in an airtight container I suppose. Not a bad thing to be famous for...
