     Brown Sugar Brownies

Ingredients
1 1/3 cup sifted all- purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup chopped walnuts or chocolate chips
 
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. LIghtly grease a 9x9x1- 3/4 inch pan.
Sift together flour, baking powder and salt and set aside. In a large bowl, beat together butter, sugar, egg, and vanilla until smooth.
Stir in the flour mixture and the nuts/ chips until well blended. Spread evenly in prepared pan.
Bake 25- 30 minutes or until surface springs back when gently pressed. Cool slightly. While still warm, cut into bars with sharp knife.
