1.5 lbs each ground beef and italian sausage, browned and drained
1 medium onion, diced
2 cups chopped celery
2 - 28oz cans diced tomatoes
1 - 28oz can whole peeled tomatoes
1 whole bottle chili sauce
ground cumin to taste
chili powder to taste
1 - 14.5oz can pinto beans, drained and rinsed
2 - 14.5 cans black beans, drained and rinsed
1 package chili seasoning mix
shredded cheddar, sour cream, chopped green onions - for garnish
Instructions
In a skillet, brown ground beef and sausage, drain and set aside.
Saute onion and celery briefly in skillet; stir in diced and whole
tomatoes, cumin and chili powder to taste, and cook for about 10
minutes until onion and celery are tender.
Put skillet mixture in crock pot; add beans, browned meat, and
chili seasoning. Let simmer for several hours on low heat. Serve
with cheddar cheese, sour cream and green onions for garnish.
