Melt butter in a saucepan. Add sweet potato and curry powder. Cook until onion is clear.
Stir in stock, and bring to a boil. Simmer until vegetables are tender. Puree in a food processor or blender until smooth. Add the milk and salt. Reheat until almost boiling. Serve garnish with chives.
