Ingredients
1 cup of Lentils
4 cups of water or broth
3 Tb of olive oil
2 large onions sliced thin
1/2 ts salt
1 cup rice
1 tsp cumin
1 bay leaf
 

Instructions
Rinse lentils. Bring lentils and water to boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 25 minutes.
Add rice and stir for 2 minutes. 1 tsp cumin and 1 bay leaf
cover and simmer till lentils and rice are soft, about 1 hour, stirring occasionally.You may have to add up to 1 more cup of water.
Heat olive oil in a fry pan Saute onions and salt until the onions are translucent and very dark. top mjedreh lavishly with onions
Serving Suggestions
it's great with yogurt and cucumber on the side
