In saucepan, blend sugar and cornstarsh, add milk.
Cook mixture in saucepan until thick and bubbly.
Cook 2 minutes more, remove from heat.
Stir small amount of hot mixture into beaten egg, the return all mixture to saucepan.
Cook 2 minutes more.
Remove from heat and add margarine.
Serve in dishes or fill one 9 inch pie plate.
