     Saroj's Lentil Soup

Ingredients
Lentils
Beans
Barley
Turmeric
Ground roasted cumin
Bay leaf
Asafetida
Olive oil
Onion, tomatoes, garlic and ginger (chopped)
 
Curry powder
Garam masala
Carrots, celery and indian squash
chicken broth
Fresh Cilantro

Instructions
to prepare- Soak lentils, beans and barley for a few hours
Cook with turmeric, ground roasted cumin, bay leaf and asafetida for 5 min in pressure cooker or longer on stove. Olive oil – fry chopped onion, tomatoes, garlic and ginger, curry powder and garam masala until reddish brown. Add veggies- carrots, celery and Indian squash; 5-10 minutes Mix it all, thin with chicken broth, garnish with cilantro. Add pasta.
