     Apricot Squares

Ingredients
1/2 pound margarine
1 teaspoon vanilla sugar
1 cup sugar
2 large egg yolks
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups cake meal
Apricot jam
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
 

Instructions
Heat oven to 325 degrees. In a large bowl, cream margarine, sugars and egg yolks. Add vanilla extract and beat well. Add cake meal and combine thoroughly.
Press 1/2 of the mixture evenly into the bottom of an ungreased 13x9-inch pan. Bake 20 minutes. Form remaining 1/2 of dough mixture into a ball, wrap in plastic and place in freezer.
Spread jam evenly over baked pastry and sprinkle with nuts. Grate frozen dough evenly over top. Return to oven and bake an additional 30 minutes. Cut into squares when cool.
