1 1/2 cups pitted dates ( chopped)
|

1 1/2 cups water
|
|
3/4 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
|
|
45g butter
|
|
150g castor sugar
|
|
2 eggs
|
|
125g self-raising flour
|
|
Sauce
|
|
3/4 cup brown sugar, lightly packed
|

|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|

Instructions |

Preheat oven to 180
|
|
|
Put dates and water in saucepan and bring to boil. Reduce
heat and simmer 2 minutes. Remove from heat, add
bicarbonate of soda.

Cream butter and sugar. Beat in the egg. Mix in flour and date
mixture. Bake 20 minutes.
|
|
|
Sauce. Combine all ingredients in saucepan, stir until sugar
and butter have dissolved. Cook 3-5 minutes.
