Mix eggs, half and half, syrup, and sugar ina large bowl. Place bread in the casserole dish and cover with egg mixture. Cover and soak overnight in refridgerator.
Make the topping; melt butter, add sugar and syrup. Cook 1 to 3 minutes. Stir in pecans, pour mixture over the bread and bake 45 to 55 minutes.
