Mix ingredients together and put batter in a 9 x 13 butter pan. Cover with 1 cup sugar evenly on top of batter. Pour 1/2 cup boiling water on top of sugar. Spread 1 quart of fruit on top (cherries, peaches, blueberries, etc.) Bake 350 for 1 hour. When done the fruit will be on the bottom and the crust on top.
