Woolowrth's Circa 1950 Chop Suey Mein

Category   Entrees - Maindishes
Sub Category   None
Servings   about 4
Preptime   15-20 minutes

Ingredients
1 tablespoon butter
1 1 /2 lbs pork cut into 1/2 inch cubes
salt/pepper
flour
1 large spanish onion diced
2 cups chopped celery
3 tablespoon soy sauce
2 tablespoon molasses
1 cup liquid from canned vegetables

1 - 8 oz canned mushrooms
1 - 16 oz canned chinese vegetables
sticky rice (original recipe- white) brown
fried chow mein noodles
soy sauce

Instructions
Converted recipe to use in Crock-pot. Heat butter in frying pan, dust pork with flour and salt/pepper. Brown and then put in Crock-pot. Add all the other ingredients and cook on high for 3-4 hours or low for 6-8 (I usually do 3-4 hours until pork is tender. If liquid is too thin, put/keep on high, take lid off and let it thicken. Put fried chow mien noodles on the plate then over with rice. Scoop out ladle of chow mien mixture and use extra soy sauce. Hot sauce can be used and is a good modern twist. The original recipe used the pressure cooker and it was done in 10 minutes.
Serving Suggestions
Dont need anything else...just this dish.
