     Calabki (Cabbage Rolls) (Polish)

Ingredients
1 cup rice
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 onion
1 tablespoon butter
2 pounds ground beef
1 pound ground pork
1 to 2 to 3-pound head of cabbage
1 quart tomato juice or 1 can tomato soup
 

Instructions
Cook rice in boiling salted water. brown onion in butter. mix onion, rice, pork, beef, salt, and pepper. steam cabbage and remove core so that leaves are pliable. roll 1/2 cup meat mixture in each cabbage leaf. place stuffed cabbage in Dutch oven or large saucepan and cover with tomato juice. Cook slowly 90 minutes, covered.
