Cream shortening and sugars.
Add vanilla and eggs and beat thoroughly.
Sift flour, soda, cinnamon, and salt together and add to mixture. Fold in oats and nuts.
Bake 12 to 15 minutes @350 degrees.
While cookies are baking mix confectionary sugar and milk (preferably whole milk, but low fat will work) until smooth and creamy, slightly runny. If you like chocolate add small amounts of cocoa to taste. Dab small amounts on each cookie. Enjoy.
