Soften yeast in warm water. Combine hot milk, sugar, salt and
shortening. Cool to lukewarm. Stir in 2 cups of flour. Add
yeast. Add enough flour to make a stiff dough. Turn out and
knead for 8-10 minutes until very smooth. Shape into a ball.
Place into a greased bowl. Turn once. Cover with a damp
towel. Let rise in a warm place until double. Punch down. Let
rise again. Cut into two portions. Shape into a smooth ball.
Flatten and then roll into a rectangle. Roll up like a jelly roll
selling T each turn with fingers. Press down on ends to seal
and fold under. Place in 2 greased loaf pans. Let rise until
double. Bake at 400 for 35 minutes.cover with foil after 15
minutes to keep crust from burning. Coat in butter after
removing from the over to keep crust soft.
