     Strawberry Margarita Squares

Ingredients
CRUST-
2 cups (approx 99) mini-twist pretzels (1 1/2 cups crushed)
3/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
6 TBSP sugar
FILLING-
2 8-oz cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup thawed, frozen margarita mix concentrate (non-alcoholic)
2 8-oz Cool Whip, thawed and divided
 
1 3-oz box straberry Jell-o
1/2 cup boiling water
1 10-oz pkg frozen, sliced strawberries in syrup
GARNISH-
fresh strawberry slices, optional
lime slices, optional

Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°. For crust- Finely crush pretzels. Melt butter. Add crushed pretzels and sugar. Mix well. Press mixture into the bottom of a 13 X 9 X 2 pan. Bake for 10 minutes. Cool completely.
For filling- Beat cream cheese and margarita mix until well blended. Fold in 2 cups of Cool Whip. Carefully spread evenly over crust. Refrigerate while preparing strawberry layer.
Place gelatin in bowl. Add boiling water and stir until completely dissolved. Add frozen strawberries and stir until strawberries separate and gelatin is thickened (spoon drawn through leaves an inpression). Whisk in 3 cups of Cool Whip. Pour over cream cheese layer, spreading to the edges. Refrigerate 3 hours to set. Cut into squares. Garnish each with remaining Cool Whip.
This dessert is best if made early on the say of serving. The pretzel crust will become soggy if made too far in advance. Best to make for a large gathering.
