In small bowl, mix sifted sugar and butter together, adding sugar slowly. Blend until creamy. Beat in egg.

In another small bowl combine vanilla extract and sour cream.
|

|
In large bowl sift all-purpose flour before measuring. Re-sift after adding baking soda, salt and baking powder. Add the butter mixture in 3 parts alternately with thirds of the cream mixture. Beat the batter until it is smooth after each addition.

Chill dough for 12hrs.
Use as little flour as possible. Roll it out until it is very thin. If necessary roll dough between sheets of waxed paper.
Cut into shapes.
Bake at 350 for 15mins. or until golden.
