     Oatmeal Cake

Ingredients
1 1/4 cup H20
1 cup quick oats
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 1/3 cups flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. soda
 
1 tsp. salt

Instructions
Add boiling H20 to oats. Let stand 20 minutes.
Cream together shortening, sugars and beaten eggs. Sift together with dry ingredients. Blend together with oats. Bake 350° for 35-40 minutes in 13 X 7 pan.
Topping- 6 tbsp, melted butter, 1 1/2 cup nuts, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup milk. Spread on hot baked cake. Put under broiler 3-4 minutes. Watch - browns easily. Cool - sprinkle with powdered sugar.
