COOK SUGAR, PEANUTS, SALT AND SYRUP ON HIGH 8 MINUTES, STIRRING AFTER 4 MINUTES. ADD BUTTER AND VANILLA. COOK 2 MORE MINUTES. ADD SODA AND STIR UNTIL LIGHT AND FOAMY. POUR ONTO GREASED SHEET CAKE PAN OR COOKIE SHEET. COOL AND BREAK INTO PIECES.
