     Bragoli (Meat Olives) in Stew

6 large slices minute steak 300g chopped fresh mushrooms sauteed in butter. 6 slices turkey ham or ham handful chopped parsley 2 large garlic cloves crushed 150g chopped asiago ,cheddar or cheese of your choice seasoning Method- Mix the sauteed mushrooms,parsley,cheese & garlic and season well. Lay the beef on the table and put a slice of ham on each then divide the filling over the slices. Roll in a cigar shape then use wooden toothpicks to secure them. In a large saucepan heat some oil and fry the beef olives to seal on each side. Put them in a dish while you prepare the stew.
Stew- 2 sliced onions 2 bayleaves 1 teaspoon cinnamon and 1 teaspoon mixed spice 3 sliced onions 3 large carrots chopped or sliced 1 cup frozen or 1 tin peas 3 tablespoonful tomato paste 2 tablespoons worchestershire sauce 500ml stock or water 6-8 thickly sliced potatoes.
In the same saucepan you used to fry the meat olives ,fry the onions and add the spices and bay leaves. worchestershire sauce and tomato paste and fry for about 2-4 minutes. Pour the water or stock,season to taste and add the peas. Add the carrots and fry a bit then add the potatoes. Sprinkle some salt and pepper on top ,cover and when it starts to boil put on low heat and simmer until potatoes are cooked. Put the beef olives in the stew and on top layer the sliced This is a one pot meal . Fresh crusty Maltese bread to mop up the delicious gravy is a must -)
