     KUCHEN

Category   Desserts - Breads
Sub Category   None

Ingredients
Basic Roll Dough (for one pan)
1 pkg. active dry yeast
1/4 c. warm water Soften yeast in warm water (110 degrees)
1 c. milk, scalded
1 tsp. salt
1/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1/4 c. shortening
3 1/2 c. flour

Toppings-
Cherry, Peach, Apricot, etc. 4 c. fruit
2 c. sugar
2 1/2 Tbs. minute tapioca
Crumbs-
1 cube margarine
1 1/4 c. flour
1/4 c. shortening
1 c. sugar

Instructions
Combine milk, sugar, shortening and salt. Let cool to lukewarm. Add 1 1/2 cups flour, beat well. Beat in yeast and egg. Gradually add remaining flour and form a soft dough. Place in well greased bowl, turning over to grease surface. Cover, let rise until double. (I use frozen bread dough loaves, thaw, let rise until double and follow the same procedure) Toppings- Mix together, bring to a boil. Boil for a few minutes. Let cool before putting on dough. Can use canned fruit instead of the cooked fruit. Dough can be placed in a 9 x 13 inch greased or Pam sprayed pan or can be rolled into individual servings and placed on cookie sheet. Put on topping of your choice. Then put on crumbs (recipe below). Mix together until crumbly. Put on top of dough. Bake at 350 degrees until browned.
