Stir dry ingredients together. Cut in shortening. Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add to buttermilk, then add all to dry ingredients. Mix well but only until dough is well moistened. Place in covered bowl and refrigerate to use as needed or roll out on floured board to about 1/2 inch thickness and cut with biscuit cutter. Place on oiled baking pan, turning once to grease both sides. Bake at 400 degrees for 12 - 15 minutes. Individually cut biscuits may be frozen and baked later.
