Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
In a bowl cut together butter, flour, sugar, baking powder and salt with a pastry cutter until the mixture is crumbly. The largest pieces of butter should be no bigger than pea-sized. (If you don't have a pastry cutter you can use two butter knives to cut the ingredients together, but know that it takes a little more time and be sure to cut the butter into small chunks before combining ingredients).

Stir in cranberries and white chocolate chips.
Add eggs, half-and-half, and vanilla so dough forms.
Turn dough onto a floured surface and knead lightly 10 times. (Or, I just leave it in the bowl to knead it. Sometimes I also use two pieces of wax paper to cover my hands instead of flour- less messy).

|
Divide dough into two equal portions.
Press each portion into an 8" circle and cut into 8 equal wedges.

Place on greased baking sheet. (You could line the sheet with parchment paper instead- very handy and much less messy!)
Sprinkle with sugar if desired.
Bake for about 15 minutes until golden brown.
Serve warm.
(These are best if served right after baking! One trick I've learned is that you can make this dough ahead of time (I've done up to 24 hours in advance). It seems to work best if you divide the dough into two parts when you prepare the dough. Then keep well chilled until you decide to bake it. Cut into wedges, place on sheets, and bake as directed.)
*Another Trick: I have also cut them into smaller pieces to make smaller servings. Try 3 circles cut into 8.

Some like these with butter or whipped cream. Almost all like milk with them!
