Brown bacon, drain and crumble. In remaining bacon fat sauté onion and peppers until clear/soft. Drain all beans and place in slow cooker. Add bacon, onion/pepper/bacon fat, ketchup and brown sugar to the beans and stir gently. Cook on low for 4-6 hours and serve with slotted spoon. This may also be cooked in a 350 degree oven for 1 hour. I sometimes mix it together one day and cook it the next.
