     Apache Cheese Bread

Category   Desserts - Breads
Sub Category   None

Ingredients
One 9 inch Apache loaf of bread
16 oz sharp Cheddar cheese, grated
One 8 oz package cream cheese, softened
One 8 oz carton sour cream
½ cup minced green onions
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
Two 4 ½ oz cans green chilies, chopped
One cup chopped ham

Instructions
Cut the top off the bread, reserving top, and scoop out the inside. Combine remaining ingredients and mix well. This will be a very stiff mixture. Fill the bread with the cheese mixture, replace the top, and place on a cookie sheet. Bake in a 350 oven for 1 hour and 10 minutes until bubbly.
Any hard round loaf of bread may be used…try using Multi Grain loafs from Whole Foods
Note- I’ve made this using reduced fat Cheddar, lite cream cheese and sour cream, even turkey ham and no one seemed to notice . Probably wouldn’t go light on everything but sure worth a try!
This is a real crowd pleaser (read that MEN) and we used to serve it on the eve of Holidays and Super Bowl. It came from the Junior League of Monroe’s second book, Celebrations on the Bayou…Invitations to Dine in Cotton Country Style
Serving Suggestions
Serve with tortilla chips or tear and dip with the scooped out bread pieces. Fresh cut up veggies also go well with this.
