Cream together-
2 c. sugar 3/4 c. shortening
Add 2 eggs one at a time.
Sift together-
2 1/2 c. flour 2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 c. cocoa
Add 1 cup buttermilk. Alternate with flour mixture. Add 1 tsp. vanilla with buttermilk. Last, add 1 cup boiling water which has been cooled some. Bake at 350 degrees for about 35 to 40 minutes.
