     JANE'S DEVILS FOOD CAKE

Ingredients
1/2 c. soft shortening
1 1/4 c. sugar
2 sq. chocolate (melted)
2 eggs
1 3/4 cups sifted cake flour
3/4 tsp. soda
1 c. buttermilk or sweet milk
3/4 tsp. salt
 

Instructions
Cream together until fluffy soft shortening and sugar. Beat eggs in thoroughly. Blend in chocolate. Sift together flour, soda, and salt. Stir in alternately with buttermilk. Bake in 8-inch square cake pan that has been greased and floured. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes. Cool thoroughly. Frost with your favorite icing.
