I. Mix shortening, eggs, vanilla, white sugar and brown sugar.
until well mixed.
2. Sift flour, baking soda and salt. Stir into shortening mix.
3. Add quick oats and stir in.
Stir in chopped nuts.
Divide into 2 logs about 1 in thick X 3 in wide. Wrap each log
in wax paper and place in refrigerator overnight.

Next day remove logs from refrigerator and unwrap. Use a
sharp thin knife to slice.
Slice across log into thin strips about .125 in. thick. Carefuly
place slices on a cookie sheet, not touching.
Preheat oven to 350 F, bake cookies for 8 to 11 min until
lightly golden in color. Remove from oven and allow to cool
some.
