Mix the first three ingredients, let set 10 minutes. mix warm milk, egg, salt, yeast mixture and flour together. Add bread. Knead like you're making bread. Let rise until dough doubles in size, about 2 hours. Knead again.
Divide into 3 long rolls. Let rise about another 30 minutes.
Drop one at a time into large pot of boiling water and boil 15 minutes.
Remove with slotted spoons onto buttered platter; keep warm.
To serve, cut each roll into 8 slices using a threat / kitchen string.
