Preheat oven to 170C. Lightly grease and line the base of a 13cm x 25cm loaf tin.
In a large mixing bowl sift together the flour, spices, salt and sugar. Add the melted butter, eggs, mashed banana and dates. Mix together until all the ingredients are evenly combined.
Pour the mixture into the prepared loaf tin. Bake in preheated oven for 1 hour or until a skewer inserted into the centre of the loaf comes out clean. Allow the loaf to cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes before removing from the tin.
Tip- after the first 30 minutes of cooking, cover the loaf with tinfoil to prevent the top from burning for the remaining second half of cooking time.
