     Mori Dal (Parsi style)

Ingredients
1/2 kg (1 pound) toovar dal
1/2 tsp turmeric
6 cups water
Ghee/Oil
1 onion, finely sliced
1/2 tsp chilli powder
1 clove garlic, finely sliced
A few curry leaves
 

Instructions
In a pan, put in the dal and water. Cook on high heat.
When the dal is half cooked, add turmeric and continue cooking till the dal is soft. Strain through a seive.
In another pan, put a spoon of ghee and fry the onion to a light brown. Add curry leaves, salt, chilli powder and slice garlic and fry a little.
Empty the strained dal into the masala. Bring to a boil twice and cook on low heat until it thickens to required consistency.
Serving Suggestions
Serve with hot white rice and patia (recipe available)
