     Pastitsio Pie

Ingredients
2 c macaroni
1 T butter
1 onion chopped
3 cloves garlic minced
1-1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
1/2 tsp oregano, cinnamon and salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1 can 14 oz tomatoes
1 can 5 1/2 oz tomato paste
 
1 T red wine vinegar
1/4 c chopped parsely
2 T dry bread crumbs
1 c fresh grated parmesan
Sauce- 2 T butter, 2 T flour, 1 c milk, 1 c cottage chese, 1 egg, pinch of nutmeg salt pepper

Instructions
Cook pasta until tender but firm. Drain and rinse?
In a non stick skillet 1 1/2 ts butter cook onion and garlic for 3 min stir in beef oregano cinnamon salt and pepper cooking 7-10 min. Stir in tomatoes tomato paste vinegar stiring and cooking 3 min. Remove from heat and stir in parsely. Set aside.
Sauce- Melt butter and whisk in flour cooking for 2 min without browning. Pour in milk whisking 5 min until thickened. Remove from heat and add in the rest of the sauce ingedients.
Grease a 9x13 pan with remaining butter. sprinkle with bread crumbs. spoon in half of the macaroni. Spread meat mixture over top. Sprinkle w 1/3 of parmesan. Spoon on remaining macaroni topping with sauce mixture. (Can be prepared to this point and refrigerated for 24 hours. Let stand at room temp for 30 min and add 10 min to cook time) Sprinkle with remaining parmesan Bake on a baking sheet in 350 oven for 50 to 60 min until top is golden.
