     Portugese custard cups

Ingredients
1 pkg phyllo dough
melted butter
Custard
3/4 C water
1 C sugar
2 cinnamon sticks,
2 pieces of lemon peel
1/3 C flour
2 tbl cornstarch
 
1 C milk
5 egg yolks
1 tsp vanilla

Instructions
Spray muffin tins, prepare phyllo by layering 5 sheets with melted butter brushed between layers, cut and place into muffin tins.
Bring water , sugar, cinnamon sticks and lemon peel to a boil, Remove from heat and stir to make sure all sugar is melted
In md pot mix flour, cornstarch, and milk . whisk together. cook over low heat until very thick, slowly pour syrup in small amounts and whisk, remove from heat and whisk in beaten egg yolks quickly, add vanilla. Strain mixture into pouring cup. Fill phyllo cups almost to top. Bake in 450 oven 12 minutes. If tops don't brown I use a torch to just bubble tops. (optional step). Remove from pans and cool. Refrigerate
