     wild rice pilaf mix

Ingredients
3 c wild rice
2 c dry lentils
2 c light raisins
1 1/2 c dried mushrooms, chopped
1 c barley
1/2 cup sunflower seeds
3 T instant bouillon powder or cubes
(beef or vegetarian)
3 T dried parsley flakesk
 
2 T minced dried onion
1 T dried basil, crushed
2 t instant minced garlic
1/2 t ground cinnamon
1/2 t pepper

Instructions
Rinse the wild rice and lentils thoroughly in cold water; drain. Spread in a thin layer in a 15 x 10 x 1 inch baking pan. Heat in 300 oven 10-15 minutes or till rice is dry, stirring frequently Remove from oven. Cool
In large bowl, combine rice and lentils with remaining ingredients; mix well. Store in airtight container. Spoon 1/3 or 1 cup portions into plastic bags; secure tops. Makes 10 cups mix.
Gift instructions- Stir dry mix to distribute seasonings. In a saucepan combine 1/3 cup pilaf mix with 1 cup water. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Cover and simmer 50 minutes or till rice and barley are tender.
(If desired, add 1 cup sliced carrots or chopped broccoli to the rice mixture after 30 minutes of cooking.) Each 1/3 cup makes 2 servings.
