Mix cocoa, espresso powder and 1/2 cup boiling water
until a syrup consistency. Add cocoa mixture,
buttermilk, flour, and salt to the creamed
shortening, sugar, and eggs.
Add the baking soda to the remaining 1 cup boiling
water; mix gently into the batter.
Pour into 9 x 13 inch greased and floured pan. Bake
at 350 degrees until toothpick comes out clean,
about 30-35 minutes.

Top with caramel sauce, whipped cream cheese/cool whip, and Heath toffee bits for Better Than Sex Cake.
