Place the dates in a small bowl, sprinkle the
baking soda over (set aside). In a medium bowl mix
together, butter, sugar and the egg, until well
blended. Stir in vanilla. Blend in the flour and
salt, then fold in the walnuts and the date
mixture. Grease an 8x4 inch loaf pan and line the
bottom of the pan with parchment (karta strazza).
Transfer the batter (mixture) to the prepared loaf
pan. Bake in oven on 175c for 1 hour. Leave to set
5 minutes before removing from pan. Enjoy, it's
delicious --)
