     Butter-cream filled Coffee Cake Loaves

Ingredients
Kuchen dough-
1/2 cup scalded milk
1/3 cup very soft butter
1/4 cup white sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
2 whole eggs, well beaten
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 drops of yellow food coloring if eggs are light
1 pkg. yeast dissolved in 1/4 cup lukewarm water and1 Tbsp. sugar
 
3-1/2 cups flour
Butter Cream filling-
1/2 cup cold firm salted butter
1 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup pecans, finely chopped

Instructions
Kucken- Pour milk over butter, sugar and salt. When melted, add eggs slowly and vanilla. When mixture is lukewarm, add dissolved yeast. Mix well; gradually add flour. Knead gently. Place in greased bowl and cover with waxed paper. When doubled, turn out again and knead for about 1/2 minute. Again place in greased bowl and let double. Shape after second rising. No kneading. After shaping, let rise for 1 hour before baking.
Butter cream frosting. Roll out kuchen dough about 18 in. long and 10 in. wide. With electric beater, beat butter until light and fluffy. Add sugar a little at a time and then vanilla. Reserve 2 Tbsp. of mixture. Spread the rest on dough. Sprinkle with nuts. Use loaf pans. Form two braids. Spread each pan with 1 Tbsp. butter cream. Brush tops with melted butter. Bake at 325 for 30 minutes.
