Bake pie shell per instructions on it's pkg. No top layer
required. Let cool completely.
Dissolve jello in boiling water. Using a medium bowl start
scooping ice cream into the jello until you can't mix anymore
into the jello mixture.
Turn jello/ice cream mixture into the pie shell, level off and chill
in refrigerator for at least 1 hour. If desired, add fresh fruit in
jello/ice cream mixture (probably not pineapple though)
