In small saucepan melt butter w/ brown sugar and corn syrup over moderate heat, stirring until smooth. Pour into a 9/13 baking dish. Cut french toast into slices and arrange in baking pan after the brown sugar mixture has been poured in.
In a bowl whisk together eggs, half and half, vanilla, Grand Marnier, and salt until combined well. Pour evenly over bread. Chill mixture covered for at least 8 hours and up to 1 day.
Preheat oven to 350 and bring bread to room temp.
Bake bread mixture, uncovered in middle of the oven until puffed and edges are pale golden brown, about 35-40 minutes. Serve immediately.
