     Apple tart with strawberry jam and walnuts

Ingredients
Pastry- 300g self-raising flour
100g butter
2 eggs
1/2 of a grated lemon rind
75g sugar
Few drops vanilla essence
Some milk if needed
Filling- 4 big apples peeled, take the core and dice
3 tablespoon strawberry jam
 
80g chopped walnuts
3 tblspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon cinnamon - 1 tblspoon sugar (leave aside)
Some milk to brush the tart
To decorate-
7-8 cherries cut in halves

Instructions
Apple tart with strawberry jam and walnuts. For Valentine's Day Dessert!
Method- Pastry Mix flour and butter in a bowl till it looks like bread crumbs, add sugar and the grated rind. Whisk eggs and add it to the mixture. Add the vanilla essence and complete stirring, some times you have to mix a little milk to form a stiff paste. Turn dough on to a floured board and leave it for half hour aside.
Method Filling Put the diced apples in a pan with water, till the surface of the apples. Add 2-3 tblspoon of sugar, ground nutmeg, ground cloves and the 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon and let it simmer for some time, but leave the apples a little firm. Meanwhile roll out dough onto a floured surface and grease a flan dish. Cover the flan dish with the pastry. Leave aside. Take the cooked apples and put them in a sieve, to drain the juice of the apples. Don't throw you can drink it, if you want. Leave the cooked apples to cool. Add the 3 tblspoon of strawberry jam to the base of the pastry, spread it with the back of the spoon. Mix in a small bowl the 1 tblspoon sugar and the 1 teaspoon cinnamon together. Put the cooked apples on the jam, add the mixed sugar and cinnamon and the chopped walnuts. Cut about 6 long stripes from the left over pastry and cut some small pastry hearts, to decorate. Make the tart with woven lattice top. Put a half cherry in the open spaces. Brush the stripes with milk.
