Mix butter, shortening, brown sugar with egg yolk. Combine flour and salt and add to soft ingredience. Beat egg white until just foamy.
Make 1 inch balls and dip in egg white, roll in chopped nuts. Make thumbprint in center and bake on 350 for 10 min. Immediately add any flavor jelly to center.
