Slice the cucumbers lengthwise using thick slicer plate. Place cucumbers in small cooler chest or other large container to maintain cool temperature overnight. Sprinkle with pickling salt and put in ice and water. Leave overnight. Next day, rinse cucumbers and place in jars.
Combine sugar, vinegar and spices together and bring it to a boil. Pour over cucumbers in jars. Seal and process 10 minutes in a boiling water bath.
