     German Chocolate Frosting

Ingredients
3/4 cup evaporated milk
2/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup butter
1 beaten egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups flaked coconut
3/4 cup chopped pecans
Pinch of salt
 

Instructions
Combine milk, sugar, butter, and egg in a heavy saucepan. Heat on medium burner, stirring often. Bring to a gentle boil.
Remove saucepan from heat and allow to cool for a few minutes. Stir in coconut, pecans, and vanilla, and salt.
Use to frost cupcakes or cake. I like to frost top and middle layers of cake with this frosting and then us chocolate buttercream on the side.
Serving Suggestions
Use As frosting or as a topping, warmed, for chocolate ice cream
