Preheat oven to 180C. Grease and flour 23x13cm
loaf tin. In saucepan over medium heat, bring
dates and water to boil. Stir in butter and sugar
until melted.Remove from heat and stir in baking
soda. Let cool for 10 mins.
Place date mixture in large bowl. Blend in flour,
eggs and vanilla. Stir in chopped walnuts. Pour
batter into loaf tin.
Bake in oven for 50-60 mins until skewer comes out
clean. Let cool in tin for 10 mins then turn onto
wire rack and cool completely.
